What to expect:
After an undereye treatment, whether it's dermal fillers, PRF (platelet-rich fibrin), microneedling, or laser therapy, patients can expect the following:
Immediately After Treatment:
Mild swelling and redness around the treated area.
Possible bruising, especially with filler or microneedling.
A slight feeling of tightness or tenderness.
If filler was used, the area may appear puffy or uneven at first.
First 24-48 Hours:
Swelling typically peaks within the first 24 hours and then starts to subside.
Cold compresses can help reduce swelling and discomfort.
Avoid rubbing, massaging, or applying pressure to the area.
Sleep with your head elevated to help reduce swelling.
First Week:
Bruising may persist for a few days but can be covered with makeup after 24 hours.
The filler will settle into place and any initial asymmetry should even out.
Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, and salty foods, as they can increase swelling.
If PRF or microneedling was performed, mild flaking or dryness may occur as the skin heals.
Two Weeks & Beyond:
Swelling and bruising should be fully resolved.
Filler results will be finalized around the two-week mark.
PRF and microneedling treatments stimulate collagen, so full results develop over several weeks.
Regular hydration, sunscreen, and gentle skincare will help maintain results.
When to Contact Your Provider:
If you experience severe pain, excessive swelling, discoloration (bluish or mottled skin), or vision changes, seek immediate medical attention, as these could indicate a rare but serious complication.
